So far, my favourite book this term was Sappho’s poetry If Not, Winter: Fragments of Sappho translated by Anne Carson. I really enjoyed it because it felt relative to my own writing and poetry and I also loved the stories you could find in her fragmented writing.”
You don’t have to be a Faculty of Arts student, or plan to major in English literature to take Arts One in your first year. This program can benefit you in many ways — from reading and discussions skills, to writing at university level, I could not have chosen a better way to start off my first year at UBC.
