Details of Themes for 2014/15

We are pleased to announce the details and reading lists for the two new themes that are to be taught in 2014/15: Repetition Compulsion and Hero, Anti-Hero. Check them out!

“Repetition Compulsion” is a reworking of the current theme, Remake/Remodel, but with a new focus and new texts. It invites you to “join us in exploring the ways in which invention and creation can be both submerged and inspired by a deceptively familiar past.”

“Hero, Anti-Hero” is a brand-new theme, albeit with some familiar texts. It offers “a pathway always leading back to the heroes and anti-heroes who have shaped our own lives, vivid prophecies of who we might become.”

With these new themes come new faculty members: we are delighted to welcome back Thomas Kemple (Sociology) and Michael Zeitlin (English), who taught in the program a few years ago, and to welcome newcomer Carla Nappi (History).
